The Regional Monitoring Framework for Students on the Move featured as a good practice by the Migration Network Hub

The Migration Network Hub (United Nations Network on Migration) is a virtual “meeting space” where governments, stakeholders and experts can access and share migration-related information and services. It provides curated content, analysis, and information on a variety of topics.

The Hub aims to support UN Member States in the implementing, following-up, and reviewing the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) by serving as a repository of existing evidence, practices and initiatives, and by facilitating access to knowledge-sharing through online discussions and a database of experts.

The Repository of Practices

The Repository of Practices showcases replicable practices and inspires actors involved in GCM implementation at the global, national, regional, and local levels.

Actors involved in GCM implementation at the global, national, regional, and local levels can submit their practice on an ongoing basis. The different types of resources submitted by users undergo peer review by a panel of experts from within the UN and beyond before being approved for inclusion in the Hub.

To be selected, the practice should be :

  • Innovative
  • Recently implemented
  • Adhering to the GCM guiding principles

OREALC/UNESCO Santiago submitted the Regional Monitoring Framework to the Migration Hub’s Repository of Practices. After review and approval by a panel of experts, the Regional Monitoring Framework was incorporated into the Repository of Practices.

An innovative project

The Regional Monitoring Framework is innovating by creating an online and open-access platform of regional information concerning students on the move. This approach will provide relevant indicators developed collaboratively with technical teams from regional Ministries of Education. The framework is also innovating through a repository of good practices for the educational inclusion of students on the move aimed at regional stakeholders and policymakers.

It is worth noting that the Monitoring Framework for Students on the Move can serve as inspiration for similar projects to be implemented in other regions or at a global scale.
